A space for children to be in worship
This summer, the FLC Church Council decided to give the volunteers the summer off. This includes the people who volunteer to help pass on the faith to our children in FLiCker. So, during June, July and August, we are inviting the children to stay with the adults in the Sanctuary during worship. We are creating a place for them right to play, build and create right in front of the stage. Pastor Phil will have ongoing projects for them to work on. There will always be something to colour. Plus, parents are invited to bring “quiet” (i.e. soft, noiseless) toys that they can play with if they choose. Most Sundays, Aaron (who has been helping out with FLiCker and Confirmation) will be there to help guide them in the activities but parents are welcome to sit nearby.
This will be our experiment during this summer. The goal is to have the children experience worship as a place where they are included. It also provides an ongoing opportunity to learn how to be in worship. Pastor will continue to provide an engaging, interactive Children’s Time with them. We fully expect that there will be a little more energy, noise and movement but the gift of having the children with us as we worship God should make it worthwhile!
If you have some toys around the house that you think would be appropriate for the children to play with in the PRAYGROUND, please let Pastor Phil know!
Coming this Summer!

FLiCker Sunday School is for
children 3 years through grade 6.
All children are welcome to join us for a fun time exploring Bible stories in a variety of different ways using our lectionary-based curriculum.
FLiCker takes place during
Sunday worship services September through May.
Faith Practices
Way back in 2000, the ELCA (our sister Lutheran body in the United States) began an initiative named, A Call to Discipleship. As part of this call, one of the questions they answered was, What does a Christian do? Their answer (as gleaned from Scripture and what Jesus modeled) was what they call the Seven Faith Practices:
WORSHIP, PRAY, STUDY, SERVE, GIVE, ENCOURAGE and INVITE.

MISSION
Our mission is to partner with families and the congregation to develop each child’s faith in Jesus Christ as a child of God. The youngest members of our faith community enjoy a great diversity of programs that teach Christian values and promote community.
WORSHIP
Children are invited to participate in all aspects of worship: helping as readers, communion assistants, drama, music and dance.
