WORSHIP WORDS

Hooray for Christmas!

I love this holiday season, including the Christmas music, lights and decorations everywhere. Mostly I love how everyone makes the effort at kindness. That’s why I always start celebrating as early as possible.

We had a wonderful end to the church year with our Fall fundraising concert, Rock the House on Nov. 2. We had such a great turnout and positive response that I’m brainstorming for a possible Spring fundraising concert. Stay tuned.

Advent has been busy with the worship team preparing all our favourite songs for Advent and Christmas. The whole team and I were so excited to share them with you. One new favourite is “Just Before the Silent Night” from Brian Doerksen’s new Christmas album. It has special significance to me since Jeremy and I supported the project on Kickstarter and, as a result, were invited to Brian’s home in Abbotsford for a visit with him and his wife Joyce this past summer. We could have a group of 4, so brought along Pete and Josanna as well. Such a great time sipping homemade Chai tea and listening to the drafts of these songs in Brian’s own living room! I have been excited to share it with you all. If you enjoyed that song as much as I did, you can learn more about it in Holding On To Advent Hope, on page 4.

It’s always such a pleasure being able to worship with you every week. Please get in touch if you are looking to join the team playing, singing or helping with our audio/visual team in the sound booth. We’d love to have you!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
